Haval has launched the hybrid Jolion in South Africa in Luxury and Super Luxury grades.
Prices for the partially-electrified Jolion come in at M549 950.00 and M579 950.00, respectively, and each one is sold with a 5-year/100,000km warranty, a 5-year/60,000km service plan, and an 8-year/150,000km battery warranty.
The new Jolion HEV sports a 1.5-litre petrol engine that combines with a small electric motor to generate a total output of 140kW and 375Nm, while achieving an average fuel consumption of 5.0l/100km.
Not only does this make the hybrid the most powerful model in the Jolion family, generating 10kW and 105Nm more than the recently-released Jolion S, but it’s also the lightest on petrol when compared to the normal Jolion’s 7.5l/100km.
Alongside the fuel savings and power gains, the new-energy configuration brings the ability to operate solely on electricity and will automatically transition between full-electric, series hybrid, parallel hybrid, and regeneration drive modes depending on the situation at hand.
Driver-controllable Standard, Eco, Sports, and Snow settings are also added, and the steering wheel feel is customisable thanks to three “Dynamic Adjustable Steering Modes.”
Another unique feature for this Jolion is the addition of a launch control system which “facilitates rapid acceleration from standstill,” said Haval.
Sold in Luxury and Super Luxury derivatives, the Jolion HEV is the recipient of a wide variety of standard fitments.
Both variants see heated front seats, an electric driver seat, smart keyless entry and start, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, artificial leather upholstery, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, rear parking sensors, uphill and downhill assist, secondary collision mitigation, and six airbags.
The headlining model is further differentiated with a heads-up display, 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, intelligent turning assist, lane-departure alert, lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot detection, lane-change assist, smart collision avoidance, rear collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
The Luxury also boasts a 10.25-inch central infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, whereas the Super Luxury gains a larger 12.3-inch display.
In terms of design, the hybrid makes itself known through a model-unique grille, headlights, wheels, and HEV badging.
