Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) has officially announced its newly formed partnership with Lecholi, with a generous sponsorship of over one million maloti towards the highly anticipated Econet Lecholi Mountain drive and braai experience.

The festival is set to take place from 26th to 28th September 2025, promising a celebration of talent, music, and creativity that reflects the resilient spirit of Basotho.

Launched in 2022, the initiative has become a significant platform for nurturing and showcasing local talent while breathing life back into the entertainment industry a sector that was deeply affected by lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic era.

The Lecholi Festival has not only recovered but has also grown into a movement that symbolises cultural revival and economic development.

Speaking at the announcement event, ETL’s Public Relations & Customer Experience Manager, Puleng Mathabo Masoabi, said the company is proud to play a part in reviving and uplifting Lesotho’s creative sector.

She added that the M50,000.00 initial investment by ETL into Lecholi was only the beginning of their broader support, which has now surpassed a million maloti.

“This is more than just sponsorship, it is an investment in the dreams, voices, and livelihoods of our people. We recognise the role entertainment plays in job creation, youth empowerment, and cultural identity.

“The festival is expected to boost local tourism and small businesses, particularly those in the hospitality, fashion, and food industries. Vendors, accommodation providers, transport operators, and young entrepreneurs all stand to benefit from the three-day festival,” said Masoabi.

The Econet Lecholi Festival has consistently attracted thousands of attendees and continues to be a springboard for emerging artistes, DJs, designers, and creatives. Since its inception, it has gained recognition for its focus on inclusivity, talent development, and economic stimulation through music, fashion, and entrepreneurship.

When the first edition launched in 2022, its purpose was clear. It was meant to be a “breathable” platform, offering hope and opportunities after the devastating impact of the pandemic. Over the years, Lecholi has grown steadily, with each season affirming the power and potential of the creative sector.

The 2025 edition promises to be the biggest yet, with local and regional artistes lined up, vibrant exhibitions, food and fashion stalls, and entertainment zones set to draw in families and youth from across the country.

According to event director, Lecholi Mokhesi Hlalele, this partnership with ETL is a milestone,

“It is encouraging to see the corporate sector recognise the value of art and entertainment in nation-building. ETL’s support takes us to the next level and assures us that this season is here to stay.”

Hlalele acknowledged ETL for their support, stating that since its inception ETL has been a major partner in their event which has been helpful.

Liteboho Mojakhomo Marketing Communication Manager ETL, shared some exciting festival highlights, from off-road challenges, hiking, braai competitions, bonfires, to the popular Mountain Drive and Grind from Maseru, the event promises a memorable experience for all.
