In a major change of fortunes for local sports, Mabote Beavers Rugby team has unveiled its sponsorship agreements with Global Guest House and TWGI for 2025.

Team chairperson, Liphaphang Mabitle, said the development is a fresh start for the energetic team both for its on-field performances and off-field social work.

Mabote Beavers, affectionately referred to as the “Beavers”, have made outstanding records in the sport of rugby over the past few years. Mabitle highlighted the team’s growing success when said they made history for the first time as league champions in the 2015 season.

The senior boys’ and girls’ teams both won the Econet Rugby League trophies.

Their domestic winning streak did not end there. On the world stage, the Beavers have raised the Lesotho flag high, claiming championships in the Botshabelo Tournament and claiming first place in Bethlehem, South Africa. All of these have established them as a team to be feared in rugby — both for their performance and their values and mission.

Beavers is also a youth development centre. With limited funds, they provide coaching and mentoring to students from the following schools: Phomolong, Tšepo, and Khubetsoana high schools, among others. Their vision is to develop youths who will not only play rugby but also become leaders.

With official sponsorship from Global Guest House and TWGI, the team is now better placed to expand on and off the field.

Global Guest House, which has worked informally with the team for the past two years, will now officially be supplying water and refreshments for Beavers’ official games. Apart from that, they have also pledged their facility for team activities, such as fundraising campaigns.

Marafaele Mohloboli, General Manager at Global Guest House, says supporting the Beavers is investing in community’s future.

TWGI sponsorship will equip the team with a fresh set of jerseys annually, as well as off-pitch apparel to be commercialised to the fans and supporters.

The company’s representative, Tšiame Taoana, confirmed the commitment to expansion and national pride. They are not only sponsoring the team but the aspiration of every Mosotho to progress and thrive.

When the sponsorship deals are made in public, Mabitle summed up with a love message to the youth: “You are not just the player, you are the leader.”

The Beavers sponsor three secondary school players currently under their commitment to nurture future stars. The team is now encouraging other businesses and community leaders to join hands with them in the mission of empowering the youth through sport. Mabote Beavers are demonstrating the possibility of local talent going far with vision and support.
