Motlalentoa Pitso, a 24-year-old from Maseru, is proving that dreams really can come true with hard work and determination. What started as a simple interest in buildings during high school has now grown into a career in architecture and even his own business.
Motlalentoa is studying towards a Diploma in Architectural Design at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT), while also working as a young and upcoming designer. His work includes house plans, renovation designs, and landscaping. He uses drawing and design technology to turn ideas into real, beautiful structures.
“Architecture allows me to express creativity and solve problems,” he said. “It’s not just about building something it’s about creating something meaningful.”
He draws inspiration from world famous architects like Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, and Norman Foster. Their creative designs, flowing shapes, and bold ideas helped him see that buildings can be more than just walls and roofs they can be art.
In high school, Motlalentoa often asked himself how tall buildings like double-storey homes and skyscrapers were designed. After some research, he discovered architecture as a field of study and quickly realized it was his calling. “That’s when I decided to apply for the course, and I later started my own company Nodal Architecture,” he said with a smile.
His colleague, Liau Lemphakha, described Motlalentoa as a dedicated and skilled designer. “His work is of great quality. He respects clients, listens carefully, and always aims to improve his skills,” Liau said.
To promote his work, Motlalentoa uses social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, sharing his designs and talking to people about his services. His efforts are paying off — slowly but surely, more people are starting to recognize his work.
Recently, he designed renovation plans for two homes in Ha Mohlokahlala, Kolonyama. One of his clients, ‘Mapokane Mat’saba, said she was very happy with the results. “He gave me exactly what I wanted. He’s kind, respectful, and communicates well. My house now looks brand new,” she said.
The money he earns from his designs goes straight back into the business. He invests in tools, equipment, and resources to grow Nodal Architecture. His dream is to turn his business into a respected architecture firm known for creative and sustainable designs.
“I want to build a strong team and create designs that are recognised not only in Lesotho, but around the world,” he said.
Motlalentoa has one message for young people: “Follow your passion. Do not worry about what others think. People might laugh at first, but if you stay focused, you will succeed.”
