One of the shining examples of this innovation in action is Conveyance Telephone Taxis, a company founded by visionary entrepreneur Mr. Limpho Ralonya.
From humble beginnings in the rural village of Ha Ramokotjo, near Moshoeshoe 1 Airport, Limpho’s journey is a testament to passion, perseverance, and a deep understanding of customer needs.
Born and raised in a community where the focus was on farming and animal husbandry, Limpho never imagined that one day he would transform his passion for cars into a thriving business. “In our village, we were always focused on farming, and as boys, we spent our days looking after animals,” he recalls.
However, Limpho’s aspirations went beyond the confines of his village. After completing his primary education at Ramokotjo Primary and high school studies at St. Monica’s in Leribe, Limpho set his sights on something greater.
In 2010, he enrolled at Lerotholi Polytechnic to pursue a degree in Marketing Management. “I always had a passion for the taxi business, but I didn’t know where to begin or how to achieve my dream,” Limpho noted.
His breakthrough came during his third year of study when he learned how to drive and, with the savings from his (NMDS) support, bought his first car. It was not long before he realised that his newfound vehicle was more than just a personal asset buit was an opportunity waiting to be seized.
Determined to make his mark, Limpho ventured into the 4+1 taxi business.
While it was a promising start, he soon noticed a larger opportunity in the car rental sector which, at the time, was primarily focused on renting local vehicles. Limpho’s keen sense of business led him to move towards offering a wider variety of vehicles, including imported cars, to meet the diverse needs of his customers.
“We do not just rent cars we offer variety. From imported vehicles to practically any type of car a customer might want, we are committed to providing options that suit every individual or corporate need,” Limpho explains.
This became the hallmark of Conveyance Telephone Taxis, helping them to stand out in an industry where many competitors offered only limited choices.
Like any new business, Conveyance faced its fair share of challenges.
The most significant hurdle, according to Limpho, was financial constraints.
“In order for a business to be successful and well-known, it needs effective advertising and marketing,” he says. Additionally, the operational costs of maintaining a fleet of vehicles and ensuring top-tier service presented ongoing challenges.
However, Limpho and his team did not let these obstacles deter them.
Instead, he noted that they focused on delivering value to their customers. In addition to providing a range of vehicles for regular use, Conveyance also caters to special occasions such as weddings and corporate events. They understand that transportation plays a key role in creating memorable experiences, and they are committed to making every journey a special one.

Reflecting on his journey, Limpho shares valuable advice for aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly recent graduates. “Business can seem overwhelming at first, especially with financial challenges and the many hurdles that come with starting out. But the key is to start somewhere.”
He emphasises that success is built gradually, with each step taken through persistence and smart decision-making. “Start small, focus on your customers, and grow from there. It is through making profits that you eventually get to live the life you have always dreamed of.”
“I encourage the youth, especially graduates, to take the skills they’ve learned and put them to use. It’s about finding opportunities where others might not see them,” he adds.
