In its continuous effort to empower women, the BAM Group Foundation has officially launched the 13th annual Finite Magazine Women Appreciation Awards (FWAA) 2025.

As the name suggests, these prestigious awards aim to recognise and celebrate women making a significant impact in their communities and in their respective fields of work.

For over a decade, Finite Magazine has been at the forefront of honouring Basotho women who inspire, lead, and contribute to national development.

Speaking to Informative Newspaper, Phongwazana Sakachane, the co-ordinator of the Finite Magazine Women Appreciation Awards, said that nominations have been open since March 8, 2025, and will close on April 30, 2025. The nominations are open to all Basotho women residing in any of the 10 districts of Lesotho.

Categories for Nominations

This year, the awards feature several categories, each dedicated to recognising women excelling in various sectors:

  • Agriculture– Celebrating women who have made outstanding contributions in farming, livestock management, or agricultural entrepreneurship.
  • Business and Entrepreneurship– Honouring female entrepreneurs and businesswomen who have demonstrated innovation and resilience in their ventures.
  • Creative Industry, Innovation, and Technology– Recognising women who use arts, media, and technology to tell stories and drive change. This includes musicians, filmmakers, content creators, photographers, videographers, scientific researchers, software engineers, and IT specialists.
  • Health Services– Acknowledging resilient women in the healthcare sector who dedicate their lives to improving public health.
  • Leadership and Development– Open to women in leadership roles within government, NGOs, churches, or community organizations, highlighting their contributions to development and governance.
  • Manufacturing (Consumables)– Celebrating women producing consumable items such as food, beverages, household goods, and medical supplies.
  • Manufacturing (Non-Consumables)– Recognising women involved in the production of durable goods, including wooden equipment, jewelry, and tools.
  • Tourism and Hospitality – Honouring women who have significantly contributed to promoting Lesotho as a tourist destination, as well as those working in hotels, restaurants, and event management.
  • Teaching, Training, and Advocacy– Open to educators, trainers, and activists who advocate for important societal issues and contribute to knowledge dissemination.
  • Security, Law, and Order– Acknowledging women in law enforcement, legal practice, and defense forces, including lawyers, police officers, correctional service officers, and Lesotho Defense Force members.

Sakachane urged the public to actively participate in the nomination process, emphasizing that recognising women’s efforts is a way to uplift and inspire future generations.
