The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) is delighted to announce that the 33 young talents selected for its esteemed Academy in Leribe have officially commenced their academic journey. The boys, born between 2011 and 2012, were precisely hunted across the nation as part of collaboration with FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS), a groundbreaking initiative launched in 2023.
This program represents a significant step forward in LeFA’s vision to cultivate a sustainable pathway for player development and establish national teams capable of competing at the highest levels, both regionally and internationally.
The Academy, a collaborative venture between LeFA and FIFA, provide a comprehensive and holistic development environment for these promising young footballers. Recognising the importance of education alongside sporting excellence, LeFA has partnered with Sacred Heart High School in Leribe to ensure the boys receive a high-quality education while honing their football skills.
The 33 Academy members will undergo a formal orientation at Sacred Heart High School, marking the official beginning of their academic endeavors. LeFA will assume full responsibility for the boys’ well-being during their time at the Academy, covering all expenses related to their education, including school fees, medical care, accommodation, meals, leisure wear, school uniforms, and stationery.
This comprehensive support system will allow the young footballers to focus entirely on their development, both on and off the field. The Academy provide a structured environment with access to top-class coaching, modern training facilities, and a rigorous academic curriculum.
