A group of 30 aspiring coaches have returned to the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) Technical Centre in Maseru for the final block of the CAF C License Coaching Course. The course, which commenced on Monday, January 13th and conclude on Sunday, 19th, is being overseen by LeFA and CAF Coach Educators, Mr. Naleli Ts’ilo and Motlalepula Majoro.

This final block marks a crucial stage for the participants, as they strive to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to guide and develop young footballers. The course curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including:

Match analysis coaches will delve into in-depth match analysis techniques, focusing on identifying strengths and weaknesses in both individual players and team performance.

The course will emphasise the development of effective training methodologies, covering a range of tactical and technical aspects of the game, such as passing, dribbling, shooting, and defensive strategies. The course will also emphasise the importance of ethical conduct and professionalism in coaching, including fair play, respect for players, and maintaining a positive coaching environment.

The course has attracted a diverse range of participants, including former professional players eager to transition into coaching careers. Notably, the course includes three former members of the Makoanyane XI trio, Dlomo Monaphathi, Tefo Maipato, and Ralekoti Mokhahlane, who played a pivotal role in securing Lesotho’s first-ever continental qualification with the Under-20 side in 2005.

This historical achievement serves as a testament to their talent and dedication, and their participation in the coaching course signifies their commitment to nurturing the next generation of footballing talent in Lesotho.

Furthermore, the course has attracted former Likuena captains Basia Makepe and Nkau Lerotholi. Both players are currently in the twilight of their playing careers and are actively preparing for life after professional football. The CAF C License Coaching Course provides them with a valuable opportunity to acquire the necessary coaching qualifications and embark on a new chapter in their footballing journey.

The presence of these experienced former players adds a unique dimension to the course, bringing a wealth of practical knowledge and on-field experience to the classroom. Their insights and perspectives will undoubtedly be invaluable to the other participants as they navigate the challenges and rewards of coaching.

The final block of the CAF C License Coaching Course promises to be an intensive and rewarding experience for all participants.
