Set against the stunning backdrop of Lesotho’s rugged landscapes, the race brought together both seasoned athletes and budding talents, each eager to test their limits and showcase their prowess.

The elite men’s race was nothing short of thrilling. The riders, pushed to their physical and mental limits, faced a tough 100-kilometer course that demanded resilience and strategy. At the end of this grueling battle, Makatile Kabelo claimed victory with a time of 2:32:51, his climbing ability and tactical skills proving to be the deciding factors in a highly competitive field. Lempe Motlatsi (2:34:25) and Monese Phetetso (2:41:23) completed the podium, each rider displaying incredible determination.

Kabelo’s victory is more than just a personal achievement; it reflects months of intense preparation and commitment. “It feels amazing to win this race. The competition was tough, but my dedication and support from my team helped me come out on top,” he shared with a beaming smile. This win, he added, is dedicated to everyone who has supported him along the way.

In the women’s race, Makatile Pont’so made a powerful statement, dominating the 60-kilometer course with a time of 1:48:05. Pont’so’s victory is a landmark moment for women’s cycling in Lesotho, a testament to the strength and determination of female athletes. “It is a great feeling to represent women’s cycling in Lesotho and inspire future generations of young women to take up the sport,” Pont’so said with pride.

The junior men’s races also held the promise of an exciting future for Lesotho’s cycling community. In the Under-23 category, Rakaota Khotsofalang took first place with a time of 2:33:45, followed by Makatile Mahooana (2:45:49) and Tlouoe Thato (2:45:31), showing just how close the competition was among these young riders.
