-Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) match officials are gearing up for the resumption of domestic league football with a rigorous fitness test on Sunday, January 5th. The test marks the first major step in ensuring that referees are physically prepared and capable of officiating matches to the highest standards following a brief pause for the Likuena CHAN campaign and the Christmas break.

The fitness evaluation, conducted by a team of LeFA physical instructors comprising Ms. Selloane Mphuthing, Mr. Moholi Tsoinyane, Mr. Thaufiq Amubikanu, and Mr. Lerato Kelepa, will involve all registered referees, both male and female, from across the ten districts of Lesotho.

The tests are designed to assess the physical capabilities of match officials and ensure they meet the demanding standards required for officiating modern football. Central referees will undergo a comprehensive evaluation tests to assess their endurance and agility, and the challenging measure their anaerobic fitness.

Assistant referees will face a series of demanding tests with and without flags, designed to evaluate their speed, agility, and stamina while carrying out their on-field duties. The tests will further assess their ability to maintain high levels of fitness and perform effectively under pressure.

The importance of Physical Fitness for Referees: the physical demands placed on modern-day referees are immense. They are required to cover vast distances on the pitch, react quickly to sudden changes in play, and make split-second decisions under intense pressure. Maintaining peak physical condition is therefore crucial for referees to:
