-The Kingdom of Lesotho is proud to send off its talented team of young debaters to compete in the International Sports Debate in Kampala, Uganda. This exciting event, which takes place on 22-23 November 2024, is the result of the success of the National Sports Debate held earlier this year as part of Lesotho’s Bicentenary celebrations.
The team, made up of students from Leribe English Medium School, Qacha’s Nek High School, and Molapo High School, is ready to take on the challenge and showcase their skills in various categories such as debate, public speaking, creative writing, poetry, and quiz bowl.
The five members of Team Lesotho, Tsepang Mosetoane, Mpho Mphunyetsane, Mpho Motloli, Thabo Leballo, and Konesoang Khalikane, have been chosen to represent their country after a rigorous selection process. They have been training hard to refine their skills and prepare for this prestigious competition. With the full support of the Ministries of Sports and Education and LNOC hosted the send- off ceremony, these students are set to make their mark and bring home victory for their country.
Team Lesotho will be competing against students from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is an incredible opportunity for them to exchange ideas and learn from their peers from other countries. The students will also have the chance to immerse themselves in the rich culture of Uganda and experience the warm hospitality of its people. This event not only promotes academic excellence but also fosters friendship and mutual respect amongst participants.
As the team heads to Kampala, let us all wish them the best of luck. They will be flying the Lesotho flag high and embodying the Olympic Values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect. The Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) has shown great support for Team Lesotho, and it is a testament to their dedication to promoting sports and academic achievement in the country.
