From traditional Basotho music to contemporary tunes Sotho Hops and Gospel, this festival will showcase the rich cultural heritage and diverse music scene of Lesotho.
The event will take place at the Setsoto Stadium a picturesque location that offers a stunning backdrop of the beautiful Lesotho landscape. Not only will the festival serve as a platform for local and international musicians to perform, but it will also highlight the natural beauty and diversity of the country.
LTDC CEO Molupe Pheko mentions that the collaboration between the government of Lesotho and the private sector is set to embrace a new wave of appreciation for its unique heritage as both private and public sector have pledged to showcase Basotho rich tapestry of customs, traditions, and history.
This initiative is a response to a growing sentiment that the true essence of the past is being lost amidst the rapid modernization of the area. The private sector and government have recognized the need to preserve and celebrate Basotho’s cultural identity, not only to educate and entertain generations but also to attract tourists and investors to Lesotho.
But what makes this festival stand out is the collaboration between LTDC and the Basotho Mega Music Festival team. This partnership aims to promote both tourism and the music industry of Lesotho, boosting the country’s economy and creating opportunities for local artists.
Director of Festival Director from Basotho Mega Festival Music Ts’okolo Makeka, confirms that youth (students) aged 18+ will be eligible for discounted tickets to the cultural events, while underage children will not be permitted to enter.
He explains that the decision to limit access to those 18 and over is driven by commitment to promoting cultural appreciation in a responsible and age-appropriate manner. They want to ensure that people have the opportunity to experience rich heritage in a way that is both engaging and respectful.
