The Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI), part of CIVICUS, is seeking regional partners in Sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia, and South Asia to lead the implementation of support mechanism prototypes designed to promote inclusive democracy and civic engagement through digital technology. This call for proposals invites experienced civil society organizations to become host partners for these regions.

Overview
This grant-funded opportunity involves launching financial and non-financial support mechanisms that have been co-designed by local civil society actors. Host partners will play a critical role in supporting grassroots organizations by providing sub-grants, technical assistance, and resources to strengthen digital skills and promote civic space both online and offline.
Key Objectives
- Adapt and implement one financial and one non-financial support mechanism for civil society actors in each region, supporting their efforts to promote inclusive democracy using digital tools.
- Engage local civil society actors in leadership roles during the implementation, ensuring the mechanisms reach and benefit key organizations.
- Advocate for long-term sustainability by promoting the development of regional support infrastructures for inclusive democracy.
Scope of Work
Selected partners will be responsible for:
- Managing sub-grants to grassroots organizations in eligible countries within their region.
- Providing technical assistance, capacity-building resources, and digital infrastructure support.
- Implementing a communication and advocacy strategy to engage civil society organizations, allies, and enablers in sustaining the project’s outcomes.
Budget and Timeline
- Budget: Up to $1,100,000, distributed incrementally based on project performance.
- Project Duration: January 2025 – January 2026.
