Maluti Mountain Cement, a company dedicated to economic development and community support, has announced a new soccer tournament called the Maluti Mountain Charity. This event will feature four teams—Lioli FC, Matlama FC, Bantu FC, and LMPS FC—competing on October 5, 2024, at Leshoboro Stadium.
Kenny Lephema, the Managing Director at Maluti Mountain Cement, emphasizes the company’s mission to assist communities through various initiatives, including sports. “We are committed to promoting soccer and supporting teams that play a vital role in fostering a positive environment for our youth,” he states.
Beyond promoting soccer, Lephema mentions that the company aims to maintain a solid strategy for supporting diverse initiatives that empower youth and create pathways for positive development. “We want to give young people a sense of belonging and opportunities to engage in meaningful soccer-related activities,” he notes.
In line with this commitment, Kenny announces that the organization will promote charity initiatives, including support for street vendors in Mafeteng. The Maluti Mountain Charity Cup is set to be an exciting event, bringing together teams for a noble cause. This time, the winning team will receive a Prize of M100,000, highlighting the competitive spirit of the tournament. The second-place team will earn M50 000, while the teams finishing in third and fourth place will each receive M25 000.
The selection of these four teams adds a competitive edge to the tournament. Lioli, FC a well-established team, boasts a strong legacy and a loyal fan base. Matlama FC and Bantu FC also bring notable talent, while LMPS FC is eager to showcase its capabilities. All teams are determined to perform well and demonstrate their skills.
Khotso Mosito, a representative from Bantu FC, expresses enthusiasm about participating in the tournament. “We are grateful to Maluti Mountain Cement for allowing us to compete against other strong teams. This tournament will help us grow as a team and showcase our abilities to the community,” Mosito remarks.

Khotso assures attendees that they can expect a well-organized and enjoyable experience. “We are committed to providing the best for our fans and players, making this event exciting and memorable.” He elaborates.
Mr. Hlompho Maitin, The Premier Soccer League of Lesotho’s chairman (PSLM) underscores this initiative’s significance. “This event will enhance the value of soccer within the country and strengthen our national teams,” he stated. “We look forward to seeing positive outcomes and elevating soccer in Lesotho.” He elaborates.
All these Football Clubs have already established a strong reputation, and they are determined to make a significant impact in the tournament. The ongoing efforts of Maluti Mountain Charity aim to support players and foster innovative ideas within the local sports scene.
