Maseru – Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) through its subsidiary Sasai Econet Financial Services (SEFS) hands over a brand-new Nissan NP-200 to Mrs. Malineo Motšephe, the second winner of the Tobetsa Initiative. This ongoing initiative is part of Econet’s broader strategy to reward customer loyalty, engage communities, and make a positive impact on the lives of Basotho.

The cheerful atmosphere was palpable as Mrs. Motšephe, who hails from Morija, is presented with the keys to her new vehicle. She stands before an enthusiastic crowd, beaming with gratitude as she expresses how winning this prize will significantly improve her life. “I am overjoyed and still in disbelief,” she says, struggling to hold back her emotions. “I have always been a loyal Econet customer, but I never imagined I would win something this monumental. This car will transform my life in ways I never thought possible.”

Mrs. Motšephe further explains how the win has come at a perfect time in her life. “At my age, I struggle with walking long distances to taxi ranks. This car will make everyday tasks, like going to church and buying groceries, so much easier. I feel blessed beyond words.”

She adds that she plans to use the car to buy groceries for her stolvel and encourages other elderly Basotho to consider using Econet services, especially EcoCash, to manage their finances. “We, the elderly, need to protect ourselves from handing over our hard-earned money to those who misuse it. EcoCash is safe and convenient.”

She concludes by extending heartfelt thanks to Econet and acknowledging the role her grandchildren played in teaching her how to use EcoCash. She also hints that she is already checking her Tobetsa points to see if she stands a chance of winning again, showing her excitement to continue engaging with the initiative.

The Tobetsa Initiative, launched by Econet, has garnered widespread participation from hundreds of thousands of customers across Lesotho. The initiative rewards users for their loyalty by offering them a chance to win an array of prizes, with the grand prize being a brand-new car. Mrs. Motšephe’s victory follows the first car giveaway, which took place in Qacha’s Neck earlier this year, and her win has once again sparked excitement among Econet users.

Speaking on behalf of G.M Sasai Econet Financial Services, Mrs. Paulinah Moreira, highlightes the essence of the Tobetsa Initiative. “We launched this initiative to thank our customers for their unwavering support and to show our appreciation in a tangible way. Today, we are thrilled to present Mrs. Motšephe with this second car, and we are just as excited to continue this rewarding journey with all our valued customers.”

Moreira emphasizes that the initiative is not just about giving prizes but also about enhancing customer convenience and fostering a deeper connection with the Basotho community.

She elaborates on the importance of EcoCash, Econet’s mobile money service, stating that it offers more than just a chance to win. “With EcoCash, our customers save money on transportation, avoid long queues, and transact at their own convenience. No longer do people have to walk long distances at night to buy electricity, putting their safety at risk.”

Adding that EcoCash has brought unparalleled convenience to daily life, and the Tobetsa Initiative is a way of showing their gratitude to customers for their trust in their services.

Moreira also uses the platform to warn customers about scams involving fraudulent individuals claiming that winners need to pay money to claim their prizes. “Let me make it clear,” she urges. “No one should ever pay to win. If someone calls asking for money, it is a scam. Winning through the Tobetsa Initiative is completely free, and we advise all our customers to stay vigilant.”

The car handover event was a lively affair, filled with music, entertainment, and giveaways. Local artist Omali Thamba captivated the crowd with a powerful performance, while event-goers were treated to exciting prize giveaways, adding to the festive atmosphere. The day not only celebrated Mrs. Motšephe’s win but also reinforced Econet’s role in enriching the lives of its customers through meaningful engagements and opportunities.

The crowd reflected the growing enthusiasm for the Tobetsa Initiative, with attendees eagerly discussing how they, too, could participate and stand a chance to win. Many praised Econet for its customer-centric approach, commending the telecommunications giant for finding innovative ways to engage with its users while making a difference in the community.

As the Tobetsa Initiative continues to gain momentum, Econet remains committed to fostering stronger bonds with its customers. The company’s vision is to enhance customer experiences while positively impacting lives through innovative and rewarding campaigns. The car giveaways are just one of many ways Econet plans to give back to the community, with additional exciting prizes and events on the horizon.

Mrs. Motšephe’s win is a testament to the success of this initiative, and with more opportunities to participate, Econet customers are eagerly awaiting their chance to be the next lucky winner. The initiative not only rewards loyalty but also serves as an example of how businesses can contribute to community development, creating lasting and meaningful connections with their customers.
