Maseru- The fashion show of School of Crafts Development Lesotho (SCDL) concept, “Prime Holy Matrimonial Wedding of the Century,” says Ms. Moleboheng Khali Lecturer of fashion at SCDL, the essence of this show captures event as a celebration of creativity, fashion, and the union of tradition with modernity. SCDL considers Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ wedding as one of matrimonial and they aim to display different cultures identities.

“This title represents our vision for the show,” Moleboheng explains. The organisers want to present a collection that honours the sanctity of different marriage cultures while pushing the boundaries of contemporary fashion. It is an event that is timeless and trendsetting traditionally to be remembered for generations to come.

The Lehakoe Recreational is a stunning venue that will provide the perfect backdrop for our fashion show, Khali continues. “The space will allow us to showcase our designs to the fullest.” She declares that every aspect of this venue is designed to create a truly unforgettable experience for guests including the Royal Family, prominent people.” For those who will attend the show must ‘dress to kill’, in the manner that issues style, confidence, and a sense of occasion.

Director of School of crafts development Lesotho, Mrs Ntšepase Mosotho elaborates that their slogan  ‘be your own boss’, encourages students to display their talents into attraction of sponsorships and clients after their departure at school.

Two weeks before the fashion show, Khali and her team will launch a massive awareness campaign in Maseru and the surrounding areas.

“We want to make sure that everyone in the area knows about this show,” Khali explains. “This is not just a fashion event, it is a celebration of creativity, and culture. We want people to feel like they are part of something that is special, something that is truly unique to Lesotho.”

 “Students work hard to develop their skills, and this fashion show is their chance to shine,” she adds on, “It is not just about impressing an audience, it is about making connections, networking with industry professionals, and establishing a name for themselves.

Last year’s fashion show was a huge success, with attendees praising the designer’s creativity, artistry and cultural significance. Khali and her team received the positive feedback and constructive criticism, which they used to improve this year’s show. Last year they honoured ‘Marena a bahlabani’ to celebrate them as the way of honouring their legacy and inspiring future generations.

Looking at the future, Mosotho and her team dream, the ultimate goal is to become an internationally recognized institute, known for its innovation approach to fashion and its commitment. They aspire to become global leaders in the fashion industry, and for their students to have the opportunity to work with top designers in the industry and create jobs for themselves. Their school admit students who acquired either Grade 7 or those who are already in the industry without any qualification from school also sophisticated individuals. Their programme is offered in six months period.
