Maseru – As a way to empower women referees, the Lesotho football association has held them to a week-long course.
The course, dubbed the ‘Women Refresher Course’, started last Monday. It was held by the association through its referee department. It was held for 30 participants at LeFA headquarters in Maseru.
According to the statement released by the association, this particular course aims to equip referees with the new amendments as well as prepare match officials for the new season.
It was conducted by LeFA Referee Instructors, with Mr. Ts’eliso Mosehle as the technical instructor and Mrs. Selloane Mphuthing as the physical instructor. They were assisted by the duo of Nteboheleng Setoko and Puleng Mahomo, who are FIFA-accredited referees.
The referees from the course also got a chance to officiate LeFA’s boys under 15 interdistrict series heads tournament during the weekend. The LeFA technical department kicked off the boys under-13 interdistrict tournament this past weekend, where U-13 teams from Mokhotlong, Botha Bothe, Berea, and Leribe with two zones came up against each other at the LeFA Technical Centre in Maputsoe.
The series will conclude in the South on July 20th as teams from Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek, Quthing, and Qacha’s Nek battle it out at the LeFA Technical Centre in Mohale’s Hoek.
