Maseru – The reigning Vodacom Premier League Champions, Lioli FC, were also the big winners at the end-of-season awards last week, winning five individual awards.
The TY-based giants initially dominated awards nominations, with six players plus one more for Coach Motheo Mohapi. Two of their defenders, Mafa Moremoholo and Tieho Ntulo, competed in the same category of defender of the season alongside Rethabile Mokokoane of Matlama, while Tumelo Khutlang and Jerry Kamela were locked in for midfielder of the season alongside Jane Thabants’o of Matlama FC.
The club’s goalkeeper, William Huni, took home M9 000 for the goalkeeper of the season award, while Jerry Kamela pocketed handsome sums of M9 000 and M15 000 for midfielder of the season and player of the season awards, respectively.
Mafa Moremoholo, on the other hand, won the Defender of the Season award, taking home M9 000. Lioli FC coach Motheo Mohapi was crowned the Coach of the Year, along with the M12 000 cheque. The club was also handed their tittle prize of M650, 000.
Other winners on the night included Limkokwing’s Skipper Lemohang Lints’a, who went home M25, 500 richer for winning the top goalscorer award with 18 goals (M13 500) and the players’ player of the year award (M12 000). LMPS’ Katlaheho Koaeana won the youngest player of the season award and received M9 500. Referee of the season Samson Molelekoa pocketed M6 000, while assistant referee of the year Thabelo Ntaote was rewarded with M5 000.
