Lesotho Science and Mathematics Teachers Association held a press conference organized on behalf of STEM organizations from Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini on April 26th 2024 at the State Library Auditorium.

The purpose of the press conference is to announce the collaboration of the three countries in launch of their first regional STEM Expo that will be hosted in Lesotho in September 2024.

The aim for the Expo is to provide a platform for students and educators to exchange ideas, and foster a culture of innovation and scientific inquiry among the students.

Collaboration with neighbouring countries aligns with the principles of regional integration and cooperation outlined in the SADC Protocol on Science, Technology, and Innovation.

The purpose of the event is also to call for support from all stakeholders in making this initiative a success. The support can be financial or support with skills as the collaboration works towards promoting STEM which contributes to the growth of every country’s economy.

Through this event the association fosters collaboration among teachers and students to exchange ideas, also to promote innovation in young age by hosting Science and Mathematics fairs in primary level to high school level.

Keketso Leteba, President of Maths and Science Teachers Association in Lesotho says membership is open on the basis of annual fee payment for both groups and individuals.
