While the National Reforms remain one of the critical projects that the parliament has to undertake, the Minister has not allocated anything to support their implementation. This has drawn sharp criticism from both the opposition and some members of the public.

  • M2.1 billion has been earmarked for the improvement of food security, job creation and poverty reduction through private sector development.
  • M1.3 billion has been allocated for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition. 
  • Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) compact II is expected to invest $118 million (about M2.3 billion) over five-year period in agriculture sector to support the development of commercial horticulture in four irrigation schemes at Leribe (Tsoili-Tsoili, Likhakeng,Peka and Kolonyama).
  • M140.7 million has been earmarked for the Tourism Sector.
  • M599.5 million has been allocated for the Trade Sector.
  • Government in partnership with BEDCO will set aside M1.2 million for youth and women led enterprises.
  • Government expects the MCA Compact II to enter into force in April as it believes it will have met the required conditions outlined by the United States government to qualify for the staggering $300 million (M5.85 billion) for a five-year period ending March 2029.
  • MCA has allocated $10 million (M190 million) for the Public Private Dialogue (PPD) platform aimed at facilitating dialogue and managing expectations between the government and the private sector. This will run for a five year period.
  • MCA has further set aside M190 million for establishment of the standards and accreditation architecture for locally produced goods to satisfy market standards and requirements. MCA to this effect is collaborating with the UNDP, NUL and Ministry of Agric Research Unit.
  • M71.6 has been allocated for the Ministry of Employment and Labour. Among top priorities is to support Bilateral Labour Migration Agreements (BLMAs) as Lesotho is vying to export labour to Qatar, Seychelles and Mauritius.
  • M1 million will go towards the National Program for Software Developers.
  • M9.1 billion is to be invested in human capital drives for equitable economic growth, innovation and social development.
  • M3.4 billion has been allocated the Ministry of Health
  • Further, MCA is set to provide $75 million (M1.4 billion) to improve and strengthen primary health care (PHC).
  • M2.8 billion has been allocated for the Ministry of Education and Training.
  • M4 billion has been allocated for infrastructure projects.
  • M1.5 billion has been set aside for construction and maintenance of roads and bridges.
  • M2.2 billion has been earmarked for the water sector.
  • M1.1 billion will go towards the Energy Sector.
  • M166 million will be available for expansion and management of ICT Sector.
  • M4.3 billion has been allocated in pursuit of a more accountable and transparent administration.
  • 2% salary adjustment for civil servants across the board.
  • M50 increment for Old Age Pension.
