Child marriages endless in Lesotho

SchoolgirlpregnantDespite all efforts to raise awareness on teenage girls who face challenges in their communities being made around the world, the burden of unplanned marriages at a tender age remains huge in Lesotho as a result of teenage pregnancies and cultural practices.

Poverty ruins children’s future: Unicef

EducationMASERU - Although Lesotho is making a huge progress in education as shown in the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (Unicef) 2016 State of the World's Children report, poverty among families still proves to be a major hindrance for many children to go further with studies.Lesothoclass

The report, released just over a week ago, says Lesotho ranked at 81 percent being the rate of primary school net enrolment during the period 2010-2014. While primary education is free in Lesotho most households find it difficult to send their children beyond secondary school as they are expected to pay tuition fees.
