Maseru teams out of Top-8 competition

Rantaitsane scores the determining goalMASERU- Two of Maseru’s football clubs were knocked out of the 2016 Lesotho National Insurance Group (LNIG) Top-8 Quarterfinals on Sunday in a double header held at Correctional Services football ground.

In the first quarterfinal of the second leg of the 2016 LNIG Top-8, FC Likhopo lost 1-0 to Lesotho Correctional Services (LCS) to make the aggregate score 2-0. This was after LCS’s 1-0 win over FC Likhopo in the first leg match played at the same venue a fortnight ago.

Tšepo Rantaitsane of LCS scored the only goal of the match to guarantee his team to qualify for the 2016 LNIG Top-8 semifinals. The semifinals will be announced during the semifinals draw. Rantaitsane converted the kick into a goal after FC Likhopo’s goalkeeper; Teboho Ratelile collided with his teammate in midair.

Khiba elected new LSRC President

New LSRC President Khiba MohoanyaneMASERU - The former Vice President of the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC) Khiba Mohoanyane, has been elected President of the Commission for the next three years.

This is after closed elections held by the 17 members of the Commission elected a fortnight ago at Lehakoe Recreational and Cultural Centre (LCRC). During that time, Caswell Moru and Molupe Mothepu dominated the Annual General Meeting (AGM) elections held at LSRC.

Caswell Moru was more popular than any other member elected into the Commission with 26 votes. He was followed by Molupe Mothepu with 20 votes. The outcome of the LSRC’s 15 commissions signaled an unexpected outcome in the elections.
