26 coaches get CAF licenses

2 New CAF A license holders

The Lesotho Football Association (Lefa) recently accredited 26 coaches after completion of their CAF A license course that was held at Lesotho from June last year.

A total of 17 coaches were handed their certificates at a ceremony held at Bambatha Ts’ita Sports Arena recently and there is hope that this will result in improving local football. The course had coaches from Lesotho, Botswana and South Africa.

The Lefa technical director, Lehlohonolo Thotanyana told Informative Sport that this is the first of batch of coaches to obtain this high CAF qualification in Africa. He also said the Lesotho premier league would not face any difficulties in future with such highly qualified coaches.

South African athletics coach, George Gundry, has lambasted local sports associations for neglecting Lesotho athletes at international competitions such as the 2007 Old Mutual Two-Oceans Marathon held in Cape Town over Easter holiday.

Lesotho athletes shone at the 2017 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon at which the long distance and track runner Namakoe Nkhasi successfully defended his title and set a new record in the men’s 21km when he crossed the line in a time of 01:03:15.

Nkhasi was followed by his country mate Khoarahlane Seutloali who finished in 1:03:45 time.  In the men’s 56km Warinyane Lebopo got second position in 3:10:21 as Teboho Sello got third position in 3:11:48 time.
