ROMA – Kholu Lebakeng kept LDF’s title hopes alive with two goals to see off FC Setoko 2-0 as they bagged their second win of the season in the Lesotho Women’s Super League on Saturday afternoon at Roma.
The win leaves LDF second to Kick4Life with only the goal difference separating the two sides. They played two games which they managed to win both, scored six and conceded one, while Kick4Life also registered two wins with a total of nine goals scored while they conceded only once.
Lebakeng put LDF ahead in the opening minutes of the first half with a stunner. However, Setoko were not to bow down as they kept on pressing.
Then with 15 minutes to go in the second half, the Lesotho National Women Team’s talismanic in figure, Lebakeng completed her brace with a beautiful goal, beating Setoko’s own goal minder to a far post.
“It was a tough game, they are the champions and last season we lost to them so we knew it was not going to be easy. However, I realised that their defence was very slow so I had to use my pace and it turned out my way as I managed to score the two goals for my team,” she said.
She went on to say they want to clinch the title and reclaim their glory this season after being dethroned by Setoko last season.
LDF were however made to sweat for their win as Nteboheleng Setoko almost levelled the matters in the 65th minute with her towering attempt but the keeper punched the ball over the bar.
They can now hope Kick4Life drops points in their next fixtures especially on the 29th where they will be visiting Setoko at Maputsoe. A draw between Setoko and Kick4Life would put LDF at the top, but they (LDF) will also have to win their next game.
