MATTER OF FACT: Lucapa buys 70% stake in Mothae

3. The Minister of Mining Lebohang ThotanyanaOn Tuesday January 31 2017 the Informative newspaper had erroneously published an article under the heading: ‘Lucapa buys 75% stake in Mothae’.

It has since come to our attention that Lucapa Diamond Company Ltd has actually acquired a 70% stake in the Mothae Diamond Mine, and not 75% as was reported.  Minister of Mining Lebohang Thotanyana announced the multi-billion maloti deal in Maseru last week.

A correction by the mine authorities denotes that after a thorough selection of bidders for the project by the Ministry of Mining, Lucapa emerged as the preferred bidder and has opted to offload 30% of the shareholding to any Basotho who wants to take part in the diamond mining venture.

The Informative would like to unreservedly apologise for any inconveniences caused by the error.
